Job Opportunities

The Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station operates laboratories in New Haven and Windsor as well as outside laboratories at Lockwood Farm in Hamden and the Valley Laboratory in Windsor. The Station employs 95 full time Scientists, Technicians and Support Staff. The Station hires approximately 35 Summer Research Assistants to assist Station Scientists in our laboratories between May 1 and September 30 each year. POST-DOCTORAL SCIENTIST POSITION

Mosquito Ecology
Center for Vector Biology & Zoonotic Diseases

A Postdoctoral scientist position is available at the Center for Vector Biology & Zoonotic

Diseases at The Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station to investigate the invasion biology of Ochlerotatus japonicus mosquitoes. Candidates must possess a Ph. D. degree in entomology, ecology or related field, and have strong oral and written communication skills with a demonstrated record of research productivity. Expertise in field ecology, mosquito biology, quantitative population and community ecology is preferred. The successful candidate will be expected to conduct independent laboratory and field research to investigate the impact of Ochlerotatus japonicus invasion on mosquito community structure in container habitats.  Facilities include a fully equipped Biosafety Level 3 laboratory, insect pathology and molecular biology laboratories, animal rearing facilities, mosquito colonies, an electron microscope facility, a DNA and protein-sequencing center at Yale University and two research field stations.  Opportunities are available for attendance at professional meetings, writing research proposals, and publication of research findings. The appointment is for two years with an extension commensurate with performance and the availability of funding. The annual salary is $40,224 with medical and dental benefits.
